Charity Bike Ride for Children with Rheumatism Makes a Stop at the UMMD
On September 8, 2026, the 5th Charity Bike Ride for Children with Rheumatism made a stop at Magdeburg University Medical Center (UMMD). On their journey from Münster to Leipzig, the cycling team also stopped by our Magdeburg University Children’s Hospital.
Prof. Dr. med. Antje Redlich, Director of the Magdeburg University Children’s Hospital, along with her team, welcomed the dedicated cyclists to UMMD.

The charity bike tour took place from September 5 to 8, 2026, and ran through Sendenhorst, Detmold, Hanover, and Magdeburg to Leipzig. The goal of the tour is to raise awareness of the needs of children and adolescents with rheumatic diseases and to collect donations for the Sabine Löw Foundation for pediatric rheumatology.
Founded in 2020, the foundation is committed to sustainably improving care for children and adolescents with rheumatic diseases. Among other things, it supports innovative research projects, the continuing education of healthcare professionals, and initiatives to improve diagnostics and treatment.
After all, rheumatic diseases also affect children: Approximately one in 1,000 children is affected by a chronic inflammatory rheumatic disease. The foundation aims to help provide affected children and their families with better treatment options and, as a result, a higher quality of life.
We are delighted to be part of this important charity event and wish the cycling team a safe and enjoyable ride all the way to Leipzig!
